Russia will pay more than $2.5 milliards for services of gas transit through Ukrainian territory, announced Ukrainian president Victor Yushenko during radio message to Ukrainian citizens.
Amount of Russian gas transportation to Europe by Ukrainian gas-transporting system will increase by 10% for 2006. "Therefore, budget of the country will increase by more than $2.5 milliards, - said Yushenko. - Ukrainian and Russian sides agreed that prices for gas and transit can be changed only by mutual consent. In recent future governments of both countries will sign additional protocol, where all technical details of rate formation will be determined. Board of ministers already prepares project of this document. Therefore our relationships with Russia in gas sphere has become more predictable, rational and economically grounded".
According to documents, Gazprom will sell gas to RosUkrEnergo company at initial price of $230 per 1000 cubic meters, and Ukraine will purchase gas (Russian and Middle Asian) at price of $95. Moreover, according to concluded long-termed contract of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, transit rate increased from $1.09 to $1.6 for 1000 cubic meters per 100 km. All payments will be in cash.
