A bus "Gazel" came down under ice on Tuesday evening in Nizhny Novgorod region. Six people died in the accident.
According to the Russian Emergency Ministry Administration in Nizhny Novgorod region, at the moment of accident there were 15 shift-workers, who were going to Moscow.
At about 8 p.m. Moscow time the bus "Gazel" came down under ice and sank 40 meters from the bank.
Eight passengers managed to escape the sinking car. The accident took place in the area of the Oka river crossing. The vehicle sank at the depth of 4 meters, divers are working at the scene, informs Russian Emergency Ministry officials.
Extremely cold weather has been established itself in Nizhny Novgorod region, as on the whole European territory in Russia. The temperature in Nizhny Novgorod is about - 31C. The ice thickness on Oka is about 15 cm.
