Gasprom shortens gas supply to Europe because of severe frost in Russia. Hungary has already reported about gas supply shortage. Gas supply to other countries is also expected.
The company officials underline, that present shortage of gas supply volume is emergency measures, brought up by growth of gas consumption in Russia in connection with hard long lasting frost. Gasprom officials note, that gas supply shortage is anticipated with official notification containing explanation of reasons to the consumers.
In particular, gas supply to Hungary has been shortened, the same is to concern other countries in the nearest future. The company officials inform, that "everything possible is being done to bring gas supply volume to Europe to norm".
Earlier, Unified Energy System declared that on January 16 Gasprom had presented the schedule of transition industry consumers to reserve types of fuel in accordance with agreement and law. The schedule implies limitation of gas supply for several Moscow power stations and transition them to reserve fuel. According to the press-release of Moscow Power Utility (Mosenergo), fuel balance of Mosenergo has already shortened from 90 to 50 % because of technological difficulties of gas transportation in conditions of low temperature.
According the Mosenergo press-secretary, power objects transit to black oil, its reserve volume is sufficient for two weeks. She added that the power engineering specialists are negotiating with black oil and coal suppliers.
