Tbilisi pays for Iranian gas twice more than for Russian fuel supplies to Georgia.
As Iranian vice-minister of oil industry Mohammed Hadi Nezhad Hoseinian said, Tbilisi will get 30 millions cubic meters of gas during 30 days at price of $7 millions. Therefore, 1 thousand cubic meters of gas costs $230.
Earlier Georgian administration refused to pay suggested by Russia price of $110 for thousand cubic meters. Georgia doubted in the economic validity and justice of this figure.
Official persons in Tbilisi commented the terms of contract with Iran unwillingly. Such behavior can be explained with the fact that difference in price of Russian and Iranian gas could be paid only from 1 source - American help to government of Mikhail Saakashvili.
Nevertheless ex-minister of Foreign Affairs Salome Zurabishvili hopes that dislike for Russia will balance American antipathy to Iranian regime: "USA should understand us - we can not refuse from Russia or Iran".
As a reminder Tbilisi asked for Iranian gas import after Russian pipeline supplying fuel to Transcaucasia was put out of action as a result of explosion. At the same moment Mikhail Saakashvili announced that "whole world admired how Georgia dealt with results of sabotage".
