Hinges smashed Sharapova in Tokyo tournament

Russian Maria Sharapova couldn`t confirm the leading title in tournament of first category Toray Pan Pacific Open with prize fund of $1.34 millions, which takes place in Tokyo.

In semi-final she was defeated by Swiss Martina Hinges, who returned to tennis court this year after 3-year break. It was the first match for tennis-players - Sharapova started to play in WTA only in 2003 and Hinges has already declared about the end of sport career because of leg trauma at this time.

But this season Swiss sportswoman decided to return to big court. She has reached a quarter final on Australian Open championship and a final in Tokyo tournament.

It should be mentioned that Sharapova has won Tokyo tournament last year and was ranked first this year while Hinges has got personal invitation from organizers. In final Hinges will meet with winner of the game between 2 Russian sportswomen Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementeva.
