Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that the Project " South stream " is in the interests of the country, and he does not want to abandon it, reports the Agency.

Orban said that although he supports Ukraine, it is necessary to think about the interests of the country and he will not refuse from the " South stream ".

To implement the onshore part of the " South stream " Russia has signed intergovernmental agreements with Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. However, the EC considers these bilateral agreements violating EU law, namely the so-called third energy package. The Bulgarian authorities have already told about temporary suspension of works on the project after warning the EC's failure to comply with the EU norms. In response, Russia launched proceedings in the WTO on the application of standards of the energy package against companies, extracting gas, own main pipelines in the EU.
The project " South stream across the Black sea to southern and Central Europe is aimed at the diversification of routes of gas export from Russia. Its construction started on 7 December 2012 in the area of Anapa. 1st gas to the European Union on the new pipe is expected to be put at the end of 2015, to bring the pipeline to its full capacity of 63 billion cubic meters by the end of 2015.
