Experts of Russian center of flights` control will adjust the orbit of International Space Station.
At 1:22 a.m. the engines of docked freight aircraft "Progress M-55" will be turned on for several minutes. As a result the orbit of station will lift by 1.5 km. This maneuver of ISS orbit adjusting is not an emergency measure but a test. Engines of freight aircraft docked underneath ISS on "Pierce" unit will be used for first time. Usually Russian "Progress" situated at ISS end on functional-freight unit "Zarya" served as a tow-rod.
Therefore, during standard adjusting of the orbit the impulse is given from the tail of ISS, and now traction will be applied from one side of station center of mass, which can lead to its twisting.
Experts investigate possibilities of docked fright-aircraft use in solution of 3 problems - "adjusting of the orbit, orientation of ISS roll and evasion from space garbage".
