Bridging between fifth and sixth floor has partially collapsed in the burning building of the publishing house, informed Irina Andrianova, the head of information department of the Russian Emergency Ministry.
"The bridging in the middle of the building, where the fire occurs, has collapsed", she said.
As a result of the fire, two people have been hurt.
According to the firemen`s estimates, extinguishing the fire will take more two hours. 50 fire brigades and five rescue and recovery teams are engaged in the battle. The fire is assigned fifth level of difficulty, according to 5 point scale.
The matter is complicated with many wooden bridgings in the building, which was constructed in 1932, and a lot of synthetic covering, due to which fire spreads rapidly.
The building, where besides the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda", there are several other editor`s offices, belongs to Russian President`s Administrative Department. The sixth floor was occupied with the library, archives and photographic laboratory of "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, the first information about the fire appeared at 10.45 a.m. Moscow time, and the fire brigades appeared at the scene at 10.54 a.m. Moscow time.
