Totmianina and Marinin crown career with Olympic gold

Russian figure-skaters Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin have won "gold" in competitions of sport pairs at Olympic games in Torino.

Sportsmen have got 204.48 points for performance of short and free program, which became a personal achievement in their sport career.

Chinese duet Dan Zhang and Hao Zhang are on second position with score of 189.73 points.

Main rivals of Totmianina and Marinin made a serious mistake while performance of the program - Dan Zhang fell down. Figure-skaters decided to continue performance after short break though the partner was unable to stand up immediately after the fall. Despite of fall judges awarded silver medals to Chinese pair.

Another Chinese figure-skaters Qing Pang and Jian Ting won bronze medals (186.67).

Second Russian pair Maria Petrova and Aleksey Tikhonov, who were third after short program, took 5-th place.

Olympic champions Tatiana Totminanina and Maxim Marinin have finished performaning as figure-skaters-amateurs.

"Today performance was the last in our amateur career. This was a difficult way. We did everything to accomplish this goal and I have no words", - said Olympic champion Tatiana with tears on eyes.

Her partner Maxim Marinin has noticed: "I am glad that we have become the part of history. Many sportsmen wish to conquer Olympic title but not many succeed".

"Today audience has witnessed how dangerous figure-skating is. There are many dangerous falls during trainings but fans don`t see them and have an illusion that figure-skating is a beautiful kind of sport where pairs are just skating and holding hands".

"I think that the main secret of our success is that we have believed in each other despite of difficulties, - said figure-skater. - I don`t think we will be the last among Russian champions in figure-skating. There are pairs in Russia, who can repeat our success if they work as hard as we did".
