Producer Timur Bermamebetov to work on "The Red Star" comics

Universal Pictures studio charged Russian producer Timur Bekmambetov to develop conception of comics film "The Red Star". There is a high chance that Bekmambetov will screen the project afterwards.

The work on comics "The Red Star" was started in 2000 by artist Christian Gossett. The action takes place in anti-utopian Soviet Union, which is named as Union of Red Star Republic in "graphic novel". Magician-warriors rise in rebellion against Imbola tyrant, who tries to become immortal at the cost of servants` lives. Comics acquired quite popularity among readers and was even adjusted for one-dimensional computer game.

On February 13, 2006 film of Timur Bekmambetov "Night watch" was released in USA.
