Unique festival of literature and cinema to hold in Russia

In the city Gatchina of Leningrad region on Saturday will be opened the XII film festival "Literature and cinema". This is the only festival in Russia, into the program of which enter only the films, created on the basis of literary works.

As they reported in the press- service of local government, competitive and retrospective demonstrations enter into the program of the festival. The main competition is the play film competition, on which this year will be represented the films "The Head of the Classic" by the director Valeriy Lonskoy, "Red sky. Black snow" by Valeriy Ogorodnikov, "Not by bread united" by Stanislav Govorukhin, "Parisian love" of Constantine Odegov, Yegor Konchalovskiy`s "Flight" and the "Russian money" of Igor Maslennikov.

In the competitive program "Debut" their pictures will represent young directors from Russia and Uzbekistan. Among participants in this competition there is known actress Anna Germ as the director of the film "By the sea" which is the first screening of Anna Akhmatovoy`s poem.

This year spectators will see the programs "The chosen pages of the history of cinema", "Italian neo-realism", "Literary and musical classics on the screen" and cinema-evening "Angel of the XX century", timed to the 105th anniversary from the birthday of actress Marlen Dietrich.

Each year "Literature and cinema" gathers in Gatchina the stars of Russian cinema and literature. This year the actors Yevgeny Zharikov, Victor Sukhorukov, Inna Makarova, the writer Aleksandra Marinina will arrive to Gatchina.

In all within the framework of the competitive, retrospective, noncompetitive demonstrations and specific programs of the festival, which will be prolonged until 3 March, more than 90 films will be represented.
