All-Russian protest action against rise of prices for housing services was organized by Communist Party of Russian Federation along with 30 other political and public movements. About 5 thousand people came to streets in Krasnoyarsk, 1.5 thousand people gathered for meeting in Habarovsk. Protest actions took place in Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski.
Participants of Krasnoyarsk action stood for abolishment of Housing Code, which derogates from rights and freedom of Russian citizens in their opinion.
Protestors demanded limitation of payments for apartment and housing services by 10% of total family budget. They also called for reconstruction of housing, entrances, systems of heating, water and electricity supplies at expense of the budget.
Habarovsk protestors raised the question of Russian government resignation. Participants of action noted that prices for housing services remain one of highest in Russia. In particular, payment for 2-room apartment of average area comes to 3000 rubles per month.
From January 1, 2006 increase of housing tariffs exceeded 20% in several towns of Habarovsk krai. After intervention by Office of Prosecutor authorities were forced to review housing rates.
In opinion of action organizers, 8 million people will participate in meetings and demonstrations all over Russia. Mass rallies are expected in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
