Crimean deputies want to give Armyansk title of city of military glory
Deputies of the State Council of the Crimea asked the President of the Russian Federation centuries Putin to give the city of Armyansk in the Northern part of the Peninsula honorary title " City of military glory ".
The appeal was unanimously supported by all 67 deputies who took part in the voting.
so the Council wants to perpetuate the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland and to keep the military heritage. Before Such a proposal to the Crimean Parliament appealed to the Armenian city Council.
Armyansk is located on the Perekop isthmus, which connects the Crimea with Ukraine. It was established by the Armenians and Greeks, and is known from 1730-ies with the name of Armani Bazaar (Crimean Tatar - Armenian Bazaar " ). In 1921 the Town was renamed in Armyansk. In the Crimean war (1853-1856 years), the City was an important logistical base of the Russian army, and during the great Patriotic war was the scene of fierce battles, where along with Sevastopol and Kerch was decided the fate of the Crimea.
in the Soviet Union there was the title of the hero City, saved in post-Soviet countries. On the Crimean Peninsula this title was awarded to two of the City: Sevastopol and Kerch. In Russia in 2006 was established the title of city of military glory, which for courage and heroism in the battle for the freedom of the Fatherland received 40 cities.
