Russia and the EU have extended the draft programme " South-East Finland - Russia "
Maria Kniazeva. Authorised in the EU and Russia signed a Protocol to the agreement on financing and implementing the cross border cooperation programme " South-East Finland - Russia " dated 18 November 2009, according to the report of the permanent mission of the Russian Federation to the EU.
The Protocol provides for the extension until 31 December 2015 the implementation of projects under this program.
from the RF Protocol was signed by resident Commissioner of the Russian Federation to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, from EU - Director, neighborhood General of the DG for development and cooperation Michael Koehler.
The signing of the Protocol took place on the background of suspension of interaction between Russia and the EU in a number of areas in connection with the Ukrainian crisis and punishments.
The program, which signed the Protocol, is funded by the Russian Federation and the European Union. It covers St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and adjacent regions of Finland. Its aim is to increase cooperation in various fields. Now Russia and the EU are working on an updated programme " South-East Finland - Russia " for the period till 2020.
