Tiraspol tightens immigration records and supervision
Vladimir Sandaza. The head of Transnistria Yevgeny Shevchuk on the last working day of the week approved the " Regulations on the peculiarities of migration registration and surveillance in Transnistria ", designed to provide a high level of public safety of Residents in the unrecognized Republic.
As stated by the press service of the head of the PMR, the document is aimed at improving the mechanisms of regulation of migration flows taking into account the increasing risks in the Ukrainian-Transnistrian segment of the border, increasing crime in Ukraine and Moldova, and also to prevent the area of Transnistria penetration of criminal elements.
The document set out the framework for regulating immigration, issues arising in connection with the entry (exit) in the PMR and stay (residence) of foreign Citizens and stateless persons in Transnistria. There is also a list of grounds for denial of entry of migrants in Transnistria. In addition, the prescribed list of reasons for decision on the undesirability of stay (residence) of foreign citizens or persons without citizenship in the PMR.
the report notes that the implementation of the document will give an opportunity to streamline the registration of foreign Residents, their consideration and action to prevent uncontrolled migration of foreign Citizens and persons without citizenship. In addition, it contains standards of legal regulation of migration processes in the country in order to provide a uniform personalized registration of persons lawfully within the PMR.
Transnistria, 60% of whose citizens are Russians and Ukrainians sought to secede from Moldova even before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that the wave of nationalism Moldova joining Romania. In 1992, after the failed attempts of the authorities of Moldova force to solve the problem, Transnistria was in fact not controlled by the Chisinau area.
