The head of the Russian delegation at the winter session of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly, former Director of the FSB, and now the people's choice of the state Duma of the Russian Federation Nikolay Kovalev believes that the question of the possible direction is to the East of Ukraine international peacekeeping missions and the potential participation of Russia is only at the beginning of the discussion.
"From what We hear, each party in its own way represents these forces. According to the plan of the Ukrainian side, these forces will act on their side, will do everything to protect them. Militias see them at least neutral forces. This question is debatable, very difficult, in most combat situations, " said Kovalev correspondents in the break of the session of the OSCE PA.
at the meeting on Thursday the Head of the OSCE PA Ilkka Kanerva said about the possibility to send an international peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.
Kovalev believes that Russia is unlikely to offer to participate in such a mission, If, somehow, this decision, Russia is ready for this.
"If adopted an opinion on the usefulness of the participation of Russian forces in peacekeeping operations in Ukraine), needless to say, We are ready for it. At present it is premature to discuss such information. We do not know what the mission is. If tomorrow the regular Ukrainian troops would grant such a right, it is literally unacceptable. What mandate they will - it's all supposed to be discussed. Needless to say, looking realistically at the situation, it is unlikely that We will witness that offer Russian troops to participate in peacekeeping operations, with the attitude that exists, " said the people's choice.
