The forbidden tetraethyl lead - chemical component for gasoline octane rating is being continued to import from China and Rumania to Moscow. The mayor of Moscow Yuriy Luzhkov said about it during the sitting of housing economical active members of natural management and environmental protection department.
"The Russian government banned the production of tetraethyl lead on the territory of the country. At the same time firms continue to buy it from China and Rumania and bring to Russia. The only destination of tetraethyl lead is to be used as addition to gasoline, addition with very terrible ecological and oncological effect" described mayor.
"I wrote about this in the letter to the Head of Government. But already half a year the government cannot decide to give prohibition to custom-house to import tetraethyl lead into Moscow. It turned out, they forbade to produce in the country, but let to import" added Luzhkov.
