The number of mobile subscribers grew 1.19 percent to 163.73m people (number of SIM cards) in Russia in August 2007 compared to the previous month, the Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M) agency announced in a monthly analytical report. Mobile penetration stood 111.8 percent as of August 31. The total number of mobile subscribers in Moscow reached 28.614m people, rising 1.27 percent from July, with penetration at 168.5 percent. In St. Petersburg, the number of subscribers increased 0.44 percent to 9.33m people. Situation is similar in Ukraine. The number of mobile subscribers there rose 1.4 percent to 52.576m people in August compared to a month earlier. Mobile penetration grew 1.6 percent to 113.2 percent.
