15 million Russians visited resorts of Krasnodar Territory, Russia, this summer, a third more than last year. In the number of tourists, the domestic tourism to southern Russia overwhelmed overseas travel, which is usually about 5 million Russians. As for prices, vacations in Russia are comparable to the rest of popular foreign tourist resorts, but the level of service remains low. According rated tourist firms involved in domestic tourism, this year, Russia `s best resort on the Black Sea was Anapa. In 2006, it was Gelendzhik. There was a good infrastructure, three aqua and entertainment centers were functioning, but this summer, local businesses raised prices just for everything. Tour operators predict next summer the situation in Anapa will be exactly the same as in Gelendzhik. In Sochi, according to the administration, its expectations for the number of tourists were surpassed, however, by information of local hotel owners, the number of visitors fell by 20%. The gap in the high price and low quality of service remains the main problem. This is hampering the development of domestic tourism. Other parts of the country were visited by 2 million visitors this year. The key points of attraction are Moscow and St. Petersburg. Their infrastructure is outstanding comparing to general background of other tourist centers. Meanwhile, experts in hotel business note that the focus is made mainly on foreigners. In the Kremlin cathedrals only two trips of 14 per day are made by Russians, while the rest are by foreigners. At the same time the number of foreign tourists wishing to visit Russia, is shrinking. The tourist inflow, according to the Russian Union of Tourist Industry, declined by 14%. The reason for this situation is exorbitant prices, starting from prices for lodging and to cost of a dinner at restaurant. An average Frenchman or a German are to pay at least 1,500 euros for a week-long tour in Russia. For this money they can have a fortnight vacation, for example, in China, writes "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
