Russia`s Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant said on Tuesday it will supply 5,300 tonnes of the metal and alloys to Ukraine and 500 tonnes to Belarus through local traders this year, thus diversifying its sales pattern. Until recently all Chelyabinsk exports have been made exclusively via Swiss trader Euromin S.A. Last month Chelyabinsk, which produced 148,384 tonnes of zinc last year, said it will supply 22,000 tonnes of zinc annually from 2008, more than 10 percent of its total production, to British unit, Brock Metal Co. It has already made the first shipment of 1,000 tonnes to Brock Metal and aims to raise the amount to 6,000 tonnes by the end of 2007. Chelyabinsk, which listed shares in London in November in a placement that was 11 times oversubscribed, plans to boost output to 200,000 tonnes by 2010 and to be self-sufficient in raw materials.
