The majority of inhabitants of Russia are very sensitive to the idea of gay marriage: according to reliable information the sociological sample survey, 70% of our citizens are strongly against this phenomenon. With all of this every 5th citizen of Russia believes that homosexuals are dangerous and should be isolated from society. The public of the Russian Federation continues to resist global trends, systematically denying the value of homosexual marriages and relationships. So, about 80% of Russian citizens are against gay marriage, in addition 70% are protesting strongly. It may seem that the number of opponents of gay marriage over the years has increased twice: in 2005, strongly objected only 34% of inhabitants of Russia. However really relevant to the question-not much has changed. 10 years ago against gay marriage were 69%, just 25% were moderately configured negatively (currently 10%). The wedding of homosexuals actively supported by only 3%, while 5% do it passively (chose the answer "rather agree"). And the number of doubters has fallen over the decade from 17 to 6%, according to data of the all-Russian center for the study of social opinion (VTSIOM). Communications Director of VTsIOM Alexey Firsov reports that the Russians have actively resisted global trends. So, currently, same-sex marriages have become a normal phenomenon in the West: they approve of 91% of Swedes, 89% of Spaniards, 82% of Britons, 65% of Americans. In Asia less support, but also increased (40% in China, 50% in Japan). "But Russia is how I got here considerably (approximately by half) more conservative than even China. With all this, it is curious that we are moving in counter-current, increasing, contrary to the global trend, the rejection of homosexual relations. Because this indicator can work one of the characteristics of state identification," believes Firsov. Tolerance in this sense in Russia is actually little. Every 5th citizen of Russia believes that homosexuals are dangerous people and must be isolated from the society. So much of the opinion that it is unhealthy people who need medical assistance. And 15% believe that homosexuality is a social disease, therefore, need to treat the public, not a specific media. "Homosexuals, of course, normal people, but to communicate with them I personally don't hunt", - condescending consider another 15% of the Russian population. And only 22% are of the opinion that the orientation does not matter and homosexuals are no different from the others. More than 40% of Russian citizens believe that the government should persecute gays and to eradicate the phenomenon as such. They are opposed by a miserable 3% of homophiles who think fit to allow gays gay marriage and even adoption of children. Another 3% are in favour of marriage, but against the education of children. Thirty percent of respondents took a wise, neutral, position: the state should not be the case to the sexual orientation of residents, and by such residents better not to stick out their own sexual deviation publicly. In the end, 12% of the offer the authorities to protect gay people from persecution, but against gay marriage and other concessions for the LGBT community.
