The New Horizons probe found "Mordor"
The probe New Horizons found at the largest satellite of Pluto layer of black dust. This area got the name "Mordor" in honor of the abode of darkness from the novel "Lord of the rings English author John Tolkien.

As reported by the website of NASA, the new picture of Charon, the largest moon of Pluto, scientists were able to discern at the North pole the lack of craters. Among the relief dominates there is a black dust that may indicate functional geological processes on the Charon. Notice how the scientists, the Arctic region of Charon is a huge mystery, because it's called "Mordor".

In the bright Equatorial parts of the satellite, scientists have noticed a series of canyons. Its total length is about one thousand kilometers, and the depth of some of them is 7-9 miles. According to experts NASA, this young geological creation.

Picture in question was taken using the camera Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) that was installed on Board the New Horizons probe from a distance of 466 thousand kilometers on 13 July, during the convergence of the station with the Pluto system.

Nine years and 4.6 billion miles of loneliness in space, to see Pluto at a glance. This is the task of the American space probe New Horizons that 14 July was unprecedented closeup of the dwarf planet - only 12.5 thousand km. Pictures of the station began sending to Earth on approach to Pluto. Experts NASA first received detailed image of the object and its countless retinue.

After convergence with Pluto, New Horizons will continue its way deep into the Kuiper belt. There are thousands of objects - frozen prompts the question of how the Solar system was formed.
