MOSCOW, Feb 9 (Prime-Tass) -- The Russian government`s presidium on Monday approved a bill seeking to introduce criminal penalties for violations of securities legislation, Vladimir Milovidov, head of the Federal Service for Financial Markets, told reporters following the meeting of the presidium. The bill seeks to introduce prison sentences of up to six years for violations of securities registration laws, up to five years for violations of shareholder meeting laws, and up to seven years for manipulation on stock and bond markets, he said. To become law, a bill must be approved by the State Duma and the Federation Council and then signed by the president. Milovidov also said that Russian authorities were finalizing a bill seeking to crack down on insider trading.
