Russian advertising market is declining. Experts say, gross intracompanies turnover has come up to the index numbers of 2001. Market fall has influnced work of dependent branches, particularly mass media. The Russian Communicatory Agencies Association calculated the branch profitability for the last year. Market output in 2008 comprised 267 mln rubles. Annual growth was 18%, it’s the lowest index for the last 7 years. For example, annual growth in 2006-2007 was increasing on one third. Market specialists assure this fall will continue in 2009. Maksim Klyagin, investment trust Finam analyst reckons, financial crunch may result in reducing marketing and advertisement budgets of the largest advertisers in such spheres as FMCG, transport, development, retail banking services and others. "Income of printed mass media will be growing very slowly - 14% in 2008, about 10% in 2009. Seeing that we anticipate decline of large advertisers number and growth of thr tendency to market consolidation". Lack of means for advertising can worsen the position of printed media. Income fall has already resulted in circulation and newspaper pages reduction of the Russian mass media. According to Printed Goods Dealers Association such gross publishing houses as Independent Media, Burda, Hachette Filipacchi Shkulev, Forward Media Group, Moskovsky Komsomolets have also faced circulation reduction. Some newspapers and magazines are not published anymore. Publishers presume this tendency will be longtime and switchover to on-line form will be an alternative. Independent analysts also mention this development strategy for mass media. "Nowadays internet wins more popularity. It can face rather high growth rates about 40% in 2009, says Maksim Klyagin. "Global tendency of advertising reduction has stepped into our country as well, - thinks Yury Vozdvijencev, deputy administrator of Economic Technologies Agency Davernox. Only the planned advertisement amount can help stay up in crisis. But advertisers don’t hurry to invest their money. Glossy magazine publishers suffer most of all due to niche specialism of their publications. The market will be able to recover not earlier than in 2011. Artyem Krasnov
