The crunch has influenced relations between financial establishments and their clients. Bank deposits have recently become the most advertised product for people. Even former "monsters" of consumer crediting have become interested in people’s cash resources. Depositors’ money is like an additional "airbag" in case of liquidity crunch. How profitable are bank deposits for ordinary people? Can they become an effective way of saving and multiplying money? During the crunch deposits bring stable albeit not big income, says Olga Vasilenko, analyst at Vash Finansovy Sovetnik. "Interest rate of these deposits is some items higher than the inflation rate. Many banks are ready to raise it further. All the more facing hard business competition the highest interest rate can attract more clients. There are no suppositions for interest rate fall or liberalization of credit terms. At the same time deposit rates can be raised especially after passing the law which exempts from taxes on deposits with interest rate under 18%". There is a wide deposits variety so that every client can choose some appropriate one with the best conditions for money multiplying. But it’s easy to get lost in this variety. Despite the ruble decline in exchange market, standard ruble deposit is quite stable. Specialists say, today interest rates on ruble savings plans are the highest and there is no need to spend money on convertation, they can bring much income. Part of money is recommended to place in long-term deposits (while they have the highest profitability) and the other part to short-term ones (it will be possible to withdraw money without losing the income in case of need). Multicurrency deposit is a seasonal novelty created due to the current economic situation. It has been introduced in many financial establishments. It is considered to minimize depositor’s risks. In case one currency becomes cheaper, the other will go up in price. "Those who are eager to play on currency rate rise\fall and enhance the deposit profitability while multicurrency deposit is the most universal means, - reckons Larisa Serova, deposits managing administrator at Tatfondbank. The peculiarity is that by opening multicurrency deposit, three accounts are immediately being opened: in rubles, dollars, and euro. Money can be saved in any of them or in three currencies simultaneously. The main benefit of this deposit is that a client can convert his money into any currency as often as he likes without agreement dissolution or income losses". There is one more deposit created under crunch sircumstances called "antiinflatory". Its profitability depends on consumer price index in Russia. Prices grow, so income does. This deposit is indexable, interest rate depends on external index but not on bank. Artyem Krasnov
