A large shipment of cocaine with a street value of 19 million euros ($24 million) was confiscated in Belgium on Wednesday, La Une television reported.
The stash was discovered by Belgian police at the port of Antwerp last Thursday when they opened a shipping container and found 13 boxes covered with branches and banana leaves. Police decided to follow the shipment.
On Friday, several people arrived and sent the container to a hangar in Harelbeke. A short time later a passenger car left the hangar loaded with boxes and was stopped by police near the Dutch border.
Some 380 kilograms (600 pounds) of cocaine were discovered in the boxes, which investigators believe arrived from South America for sale in Europe.
Three Belgian suspects have been detained, and the investigation is continuing.
