The Chairman of the Duma Committee on health protection Sergei Kalashnikov announced that he agreed with the decision of France to ban solariums, says "Russian news service". The MP believes that a similar practice should be used in Russia.
However Kalashnikov said that in some cases UV rays can be used as a physiotherapy - on doctor. "We are a Northern country, unlike France. In some cases, such as those associated with the production of vitamin D which is an essential factor in the formation of, for example, the musculoskeletal system, on doctor ultraviolet cabins can be used as physical therapy", - said the Deputy.
He recalled the great danger of tanning for health. Kalashnikov said that ultraviolet radiation in a narrow band (not as wide as that of the sun) is considered to be one of the factors of skin cancer and the development of other oncological diseases. "In countries like Chile and Argentina, expanding ozone hole, which transmits a narrow range of ultraviolet rays, the disease is cancer is several times higher than in the other States," he added.
The French Senate on September 16 took the decision to ban cabs for artificial tanning from 2017. With all this ban on solariums senators made contrary to the opinion of the government. The decision was made in the study of a new bill to reform the health care system. As explained in the Senate, the document was adopted in consequence of the effect of tanning on skin cancer development.
