A Chinese millionairess laid on a splendid reception in honor of her new dog, bought for 4 million yuan ($585,000), the Sohu web site reported on Thursday.
The woman, called Wang, had been trying to find a Tibetan Terrier for many years, and finally found her dream pet in China`s northwestern Qinghai province.
The dog fancier spared neither trouble nor expense, inviting a number of celebrities to the party. Wang`s friends welcomed her and her new pet at the airport in Xi`an, the capital of the central Shaanxi province, in a fleet of 30 Mercedes cars.
"Money has a price, but not the Tibetan Terrier," the woman was quoted by the web site as saying.
The Tibetan Terrier - often called the Holy Dog of Tibet - was bred by Tibetan monks high in the Himalayas and never sold to strangers. The dogs, with a shaggy coat, are highly valued as good companions to their owners.
