Non-permanent members of the UN security Council resolution for the period of 2016-2017 years on Thursday were elected as Egypt, Senegal, Ukraine, Uruguay and Japan.

From 31 December 2015, the Council will leave, respectively, Jordan, Nigeria, Lithuania, Chad and Chile. In the current year non-permanent membership in the security Council claimed five countries: Egypt and Senegal (from the African group), Ukraine (group of Eastern European countries), Uruguay (Latin America), Japan (group of the Asia-Pacific countries). Candidates of these States were approved in advance by the respective regional groups. However, despite the consensus and the lack of competitors for election to the SB they need to get support from at least 2 thirds of – 129 votes of the members of the General Assembly. The security Council includes five permanent (Russia, USA, Britain, France, China) and ten non-permanent members. As stated before the Ukrainian authorities, they hope that Ukraine will become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
