British banker Rurik convicted in a gruesome double murder
Former British banker Rurik was convicted of killing two young Indonesian women in 2014. This terrible event shook the whole of Hong Kong.

The accused pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, claiming that he was insane. His defense argues that his mental problems affected his decision at the time of the murder. The jury returned a unanimous verdict on both counts. Now he faces a life sentence in prison.

At the time when the sentence was read, the accused sat motionless and stared ahead.
In a statement released through lawyers, it was said that the accused took the verdict "just".

October 27, the accused killed 23-year-old Sumarti Nigsa once held her captive in his apartment for three days. He tortured her, taking on her iPhone, and then slit her throat. After 3 days, November 1, the accused killed 26-year-old Seneng Muriatic after she continued to call for help.

For 6 days in his apartment, the murderer has made numerous videos on his phone in which he described his plans for the future and fear of being caught. Before the trial began, the judge warned potential jurors that the shots recorded on the iPhone will be "heavy".

Three days later, after consideration of suicide and escape, he instead went to a sex shop and hardware store to prepare everything and find the next victim. By the time of the murder the accused had consumed up to 10 grams of cocaine and 2 liters of liquor a day.
