China lifted the blockade of the island, in agreement with Duterte

The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte seem to have signed a major deal with Beijing, having a passage in the South China sea. It happened last week when China unexpectedly lifted its four-year blockade of the island Scarborough Shoal , allowing Filipino fishermen free access to the abundant waters.
In 2012 China took over the island of Scarborough Shoal by deploying in shallow waters of the powerful boats of the coast guard to evict the Philippine Navy. Carefully, not without reason, drawn into a conflict with China over the uninhabited rocks, Washington decided not to find out whether the mutual defense Treaty with the Philippines to call the U.S. military response. So when the US signed a deal in which the Philippines and China have agreed to withdraw their ships, Beijing simply refused from his part. China has kept the blockade intact. Over the next 4 years, Washington has failed to create an effective strategy to bring the Chinese ships.
Duterte, by contrast, is apparently used only one form of leverage Washington. His explosive talk about "dividing" America, regrouping with China, and "independent" foreign policy showed the tone that Beijing wanted to hear. The lifting of the siege of Scarborough, it is the gift of China Duterte for his sustained attacks on America. Beijing is serious to improve ties with the Philippines at the expense of Washington.
The danger is that other countries may follow the example of the Philippines: distanciruemsa from the United States and will make deals with China. If this happens America's position will be really weakened.
