Russia`s sport minister has warned against dismissing sport officials saying it would not help athletes make better performances at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Russia`s national team has so far shown poor results winning only five medals: one gold, two silvers and two bronzes. Its performance in the Canadian city has provoked harsh criticism on the part of Russian fans and journalists as well as calls to fire Russian sport officials. "The Games... are not over yet," an optimistic Vitaly Mutko, who has been on the post for less than two years, told RIA Novosti from Vancouver. "If we dismiss some officials, will our skiers race faster?" "I don`t want all this to turn into a political show that would be of no use to sport. We need to work in a systemic and calm manner," Mutko said. The Olympic Games will end on February 28.
