40 unknown asteroids were able to detect using state-of-telescope in Buryatia. It was built last year. Characteristics of the device will allow to look in remote corners of the Galaxy.
Once at the foot of the Sayan dusk falls and the sky appears the first star, huge telescopes like waking up from a NAP. The observers take their places at the monitors. A cold winter and a virtually cloudless night - perfect time to work. The stars are strokes and objects are small dots. That is, the background stars have to find the objects. The Observatory is located in mountains at an altitude of almost 2 thousand meters.
Just last year scientists found 40 previously unknown celestial bodies. the Experts working here in shifts all year round. Project Manager Vladimir Terguev has been working here for 50 years. He participated in the construction of the first facilities of the Observatory. Then, for the convenience of observation even had to move the state border of Russia and Mongolia. The telescope was installed decades ago, has passed through several stages of modernization, but still in the ranks.
AZT - 33п▓п° - the latest wide-angle optical telescope. Its technical characteristics allow you to search not only asteroids, but also to observe space debris. Today it is the only country in the telescope to perform a review of observations. It was installed just over a year ago, it works still not at full strength. The project provides a powerful matrix of a sensor, which may allow scientists to study in more detail the space.
