The Ministry of justice announced on Tuesday that Egyptian officials found 8 mummies 10 colorful sarcophagi and numerous statues in the 3500 year old tombs.
The Egyptian archaeological mission discovered a tomb in the necropolis of Draa Abul Naga, near Luxor in southern Egypt. The main T-shaped tomb belonged to the town judge and is typical for the tombs of nobles of the New Kingdom, the statement of the Ministry.
Scientists have removed 450 cubic meters of debris, opening the entrance to the main tomb and two joint grave. Work on the excavations underway to uncover the secrets of these two tombs, - the Ministry added. According to the Ministry, in the internal chamber of the main tomb houses a collection of sarcophagi from the 21st dynasty, and mummies wrapped in cloth. He added that the sarcophagus is in good condition.
Archaeologists also found funerary figurines of porcelain, terracotta and wood, as well as a collection of clay pots, says the Ministry.
In another room was discovered, a collection of ushabti figurines, wooden masks and the handle with the lid of the sarcophagus, the statement reads.
