The eccentric singer shot to fame last year and has had a string of international hits since. She is currently single, and hopes to stay that way because she is convinced love is damaging to a musician`s career.
"Too much devotion, too much love can kill you. I find it romantic but also incredibly sad when artists die of a broken heart," she told British magazine More!
The star also worries that when she does eventually fall in love she?ll run out of inspiration for her songs. So much of her music is driven by her search for a soul mate, she is scared she will be unable to write hits when she finds one.
"The search for love provides nourishment for the artistic soul. I`m afraid that as soon as you find real love, there won`t be anything left to write songs about," she said.
Gaga shocked fans earlier this year when she announced her celibacy.
Despite her provocative lyrics and revealing outfits, the 24-year-old is determined to send a positive message to young fans who might be feeling pressure to have sex.
"I remember the cool girls when I was growing up," she said. "Everyone started to have sex. But it`s not really cool anymore to have sex all the time. It`s cooler to be strong and independent."
