To resolve the question of a peace Treaty between Russia and Japan, Tokyo should acknowledge the end of the Second world war, told in the foreign Ministry.
the Ministry urged Japan to fully accept the results of world war II, " including the sovereignty of our Country over the southern Kuril Islands."
This message appeared at the beginning of the visit of Minister of foreign Affairs of Japan, Taro Kono, who will visit Moscow on January 12.
it is expected that foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with his Japanese counterpart to discuss prospects of development of trade and economic cooperation and topical issues of global and regional agenda.
The main theme of negotiations will be the issue of concluding a peace Treaty between Tokyo and the capital of Russia.
first Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe said that Tokyo's claims to the Southern Kuriles. However, he said that the possible transfer of the Islands does not provide for the eviction of Russian citizens. Also Japan plans to offer Russia to refuse mutual claims for compensation related with the four Kuril Islands, which Tokyo calls the " Northern territories."
After these statements the Ministry of foreign Affairs summoned the Japanese Ambassador Touchesa Kozuki. The diplomat reminded that this phrase grossly distort the essence of the agreements Moscow and Tokyo.
Relations of Moscow and Tokyo for years overshadows the lack of a peace Treaty. The country has not signed it according to the results of the Second world war.
Japan claims the Islands to the Islands of Kunashir, Shikotan, Iturup and Habomai, indicating bilateral treatise on trade and borders of 1855. Moscow, for its part, argues own position that the Islands became part of the Soviet Union in world war II and Russia's sovereignty over these territories no doubt.
