The 28-year-old singer was placed under a conservatorship in January 2008, shortly after her public meltdown which saw her shave her head and go days without sleep. The court order puts her father Jamie is control of all Britney`s personal and business affairs until a judge deems the star is capable of managing them on her own. Britney`s lawyers attended a progress hearing yesterday to ask for the conservatorship to be lifted, but Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled that it would continue. Goetz also approved Jamie`s request for $235,570 in attorney`s fees, which Britney`s lawyers said she did not object to. "She has strongly opted out of those decisions," attorney Sam Ingham said. Neither Britney nor Jamie were in court for the hearing. A court insider claims Britney was not expecting the conservatorship to end, and is unlikely to be free to manage her own life for quite some time. "It seems highly unlikely that the conservatorship will end by the end of summer," a source told gossip website Radaronline. "Britney`s just not ready yet. "Britney has complex issues that on a personal and professional level and that is the reason the conservatorship is still in place." The next status hearing is scheduled for July 27th.
