Madonna is adding another floor to her New York mansion to create room for a lavish gym.
The singer is renowned for her muscular physique, and is known to work out daily. Plans filed with the city council show she is hoping to add 1,614 square feet to her property, which is in the exclusive Upper East Side of Manhattan. A new floor will be almost totally taken up with fitness equipment, while other changes will also be made.
Madonna will remove bedrooms and bathrooms from the 22 million mansion, replacing them with a host of other rooms. When work is complete the 51-year-old will have a new mastersuite containing a walk-in wardrobe, special space for her luggage and a hairsalon. A wine cellar and playroom are also being added.
The changes are expected to cost around 1.2 million, and will leave the building with ten bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
When the building work is completed, the property will be 13,847 square foot. It also has a 3,000 square foot garden, a "security living room" and bar area and two-car garage.
