Vladimir Putin ratified the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian sea, the Law of the Russian Federation published on the official portal of legal information. The Convention was signed in Aktau, 12 August 2018. The state Duma adopted the document on September 19, the Federation Council blessed it on September 25. The Convention establishes the regime of navigation and order collective use of the Caspian sea. Introduced mechanisms for establishing the boundaries of the territorial waters and fishery zones, delineation of the seabed and subsoil of the Caspian sea into sectors, terms of laying submarine cables and pipelines and other issues of cooperation between the riparian countries. One of the main principles of the Convention - lack in the Caspian sea military power, not belonging to the countries of the region. in the explanatory paper to the Federal law it is reported that a Convention should make the relations between partners in the region more stable and predictable. The rules of enhanced cooperation in the area of security, transport and navigation, fisheries, exploration and production of hydrocarbons will become more favorable. <span style="color:darkgray
