Julianne Moore spent so much time beneath the sheets during her lesbian sex scenes for her latest film, the director feared she would suffocate.
The 49-year-old actress plays Annette Bening`s gay partner in new film The Kids Are All Right. The movie features several steamy same-sex scenes, which left Julianne hot and bothered for all the wrong reasons.
The film`s director Lisa Cholodenko says the props department supplied an unusually heavy blanket on Julianne and Annette`s characters` bed, and she was constantly scared Julianne had stopped breathing because she had to spend so much time under it simulating sexual acts.
"The production designer decided to pick a really heavy blanket," Lisa told the New York Daily News at a lunch in honour of the film on Tuesday.
"Julianne had to spend a lot of time under it, and I started to get really worried. I was repeatedly asking Annette, `Is she suffocating down there?` To which Julianne would reply, from beneath the blanket, `I`m fine under here, let`s keep going!`"
The Kids Are All Right tells the story of a lesbian couple who use a sperm donor to conceive two children. Everything goes well until the eldest child turns 18 and demands to meet his biological father.
