Vladimir Putin gave an order to intensify work on suppressing the activities of dishonest carriers. The head of state noted that positive changes are already visible in the industry, but many problems remain. He stressed that the functioning of public transport should be oriented towards the needs of all families, including large ones.
The president also drew attention to the need to restore and expand the route network in the new regions. According to him, trolleybuses, trams, buses and commuter trains must follow the schedule strictly, and the cost of travel should remain affordable for citizens.
During the meeting, Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin spoke. He proposed introducing state regulation of fares in the regions. In addition, the minister reported on plans to introduce guaranteeing carriers and organize on-demand transport in populated areas where buses are absent or run too rarely.
The Ministry of Transport also intends to launch an experiment on the use of driverless buses in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan and the Far East.
