Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council on Science and Education in Novosibirsk emphasized the need to accelerate the development of advanced technologies. According to him, the pace of creation and implementation of innovations determines sovereignty, economic development, and the solution of defense tasks, which today are closely linked to technology.
The president noted that the state should form powerful university centers for training scientific personnel, and business should act as a customer for breakthrough developments. He also pointed out the importance of effectively combining strategic resources: research schools, digital computing capacities, and unique bioresource collections.
Putin reminded that Russia is among the world leaders in creating megascience facilities, and these complexes should be used to develop domestic artificial intelligence technologies. In addition, the president drew attention to the need to protect data on research results.
The head of state reported that the first research stations of the SKIF synchrotron are planned to be put into operation before the end of the current year. He also ordered to build a holistic platform ecosystem for the country's scientific and technological development and to pay special attention to the work of genetic resources centers.
On Tuesday, Putin is working in Novosibirsk: earlier he discussed the development of science with students, graduate students, and young scientists in Akademgorodok.
