Vladimir Putin has visited the Kuril Islands for the first time. During the visit, he toured the Yasny fish processing plant, where he familiarized himself with the production process and talked with the plant's workers.

After that, the president inspected the Kuril Central District Hospital and a school named after Hero of Russia E.D. Norpolov. The head of state also spoke with local residents.

Concluding the trip, Putin held a meeting with Sakhalin Oblast Governor Valery Limarenko. The sides discussed the demographic situation and the level of wages in the region.

The day before, the president arrived in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where he took part in the final phase of the Pacific Fleet exercises and held a meeting dedicated to ensuring the security of the eastern borders.
