A source in security structures in eastern Libya told RIA Novosti that Ukrainian instructors are recruiting and training people from African countries for subsequent use against Russia.
Earlier, Libyan media published an appeal by a Sudanese activist who claimed that citizens of Sudan and other African states are brought to Libya under the pretext of employment in security, where they are forced to undergo military training and sent to participate in hostilities in Ukraine and Mali.
The agency's interlocutor noted that the information disseminated by the Sudanese journalist is not a secret. He confirmed the existence of training centers in Tajura, as well as in the area of the road to the airport in Tripoli, and added that there is another center called "At-Tikbali".
According to him, Ukrainian specialists work at these facilities, who developed training programs for mercenaries and passed on experience in the use of strike drones. Trained militants can be used both to counter Russia's interests in Africa and to participate in the conflict in Ukraine.
Last year, French media, citing a military source in Mali, reported that terrorists from the alliance of Malian separatist groups CSP-DPA traveled to Ukraine for training. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti that Kyiv, unable to defeat Russia on the battlefield, decided to open a "second front" in Africa, indulging terrorist groups in African states friendly to Moscow.
Currently, there are two governments in Libya that do not recognize each other. The first, supported by the UN and headed by Abdulhamid Dbeibah, is based in Tripoli. In the east of the country, there is a parliament-approved government led by Osama Hammad, which is supported by the Libyan National Army under the command of Khalifa Haftar.
The situation of dual power arose as a result of the events of March 2011, when NATO countries began to strike Libya, providing support to armed rebels. The parties are negotiating the unification of the army and other state institutions.
