The New York Times, citing three European officials, reports that some European countries, primarily those bordering Russia and Ukraine, express doubts that Berlin and Paris are capable of adequately representing their interests in possible negotiations on settling the situation in Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow sees no point in European participation in the negotiation process on Ukraine. According to him, most of the positions voiced in European capitals rather contribute to the continuation of the conflict than to the search for a peaceful solution.
