US President Donald Trump has ordered Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth to reduce the scale of joint military exercises with South Korea. According to the American leader, such maneuvers are not necessary.
In his account on the social network Truth Social, Trump explained that the exercises are too expensive, with the United States, as usual, bearing a significant portion of the costs. In addition, they send a signal that he called completely inappropriate and hostile towards the DPRK. He also noted that during his presidency, North Korea posed no threat and behaved respectfully.
Trump also said that since it is too late to cancel the exercises, he has instructed the Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth to significantly reduce their scale.
