RIA Novosti, after reviewing government documents, found that a US contractor, due to a shortage of spare parts, will send Bradley armored vehicles to Ukraine after repair in incomplete configuration.
The US Army Contracting Command notice states that the shortage concerns outdated parts. Some are no longer produced, others are unavailable due to supplier problems.
In this regard, the repair of the vehicles will be carried out in stages. First, the Bradleys must be brought to a condition allowing them to move, fire, and maintain communication, after which the equipment can be sent for further use. Missing parts that are not considered critical for combat missions are planned to be installed later.
The document lists among the problematic components: turret drive and transmission control units, target detection system elements, lighting devices, and specialized fasteners.
To avoid delays in repairing equipment for Ukraine, the US Army intends to extend the existing contract without holding a new competition. The contractor will continue repairing Bradley and M88, purchasing scarce spare parts, and training Ukrainian military mechanics.
