Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that in contacts with Washington, Moscow raises the issues of returning confiscated diplomatic property and resuming direct air service between the countries.

In an interview with the newspaper Izvestia, Zakharova stressed: "We invariably and firmly put on the agenda the need to move from important but technical issues of the work of diplomatic missions to breakthrough tasks, such as the return of Russia's confiscated diplomatic property, as well as the resumption of direct air service."

The diplomat noted that despite some progress, it has not yet been possible to fully restore the work of the embassy and consulates general due to the complexity of the negotiation process and differences in the approaches of the parties.

According to the Foreign Ministry, six objects of Russian state property remain seized in the United States. They were confiscated despite their diplomatic status between 2016 and 2018.

Direct air service between Russia and the United States was interrupted in March 2022, when the American side closed its airspace to Russian aircraft.
