Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed the opinion that Warsaw's position on the Nord Streams could in the future turn against the interests and security of Poland itself. This statement is published on the website of the Russian foreign policy agency.
The reason for the comment was the statements of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who defended persons suspected by German law enforcement agencies of involvement in terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. Tusk called on German authorities to drop criminal prosecution of these people.
Zakharova's statement emphasizes that Warsaw's demonstrative position on the sabotage of the Nord Streams could in the future "hit like a boomerang" on Poland's vital interests and security.
