In an interview with RIA Novosti, Ambassador-at-Large and Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Commission on Elections Maxim Raider said that high voter turnout is forecast at the upcoming State Duma elections in Abkhazia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Turkey, South Ossetia and Cyprus.

The diplomat noted that in recent years there has been a steady increase in the number of voters in countries where Russian projects are implemented under international agreements, for example, the construction of nuclear power plants or oil production.

Raider also explained that for foreign polling stations the concept of turnout in the classical sense is relative, since there, unlike in Russia, voter lists are usually not formed in advance. According to him, for them turnout is simply the number of voters, and naturally it will be highest in countries with a large number of Russian citizens and the ability to deploy a wider network of polling stations.

Recall that President Vladimir Putin scheduled the elections of deputies of the State Duma of the ninth convocation for September 20, 2026. Voting will take place over three days - from September 18 to 20. The head of state called these elections the most important domestic political event of the country.
